Room #13 {Aemi and Devi}

Devi sighed then set her burden of a suitcase down near the small twin-sized bed on the right. She clasped her hands together then stretched them high in the air, lifting herself up on her tip-toes before exhaling sharply and letting herself go.

The dark-haired girl looked around the room with an unimpressed expression. The gray stone walls, cream-colored sheet, and empty desk were so boring. What hurt Devi most of all was the empty bookshelf. However, she and her roommate had an excuse; they were always off on missions or spending time in the library and debriefing with Komui that they scarcely saw the inner walls of this room.

Devi sat on her bed and fiddled with her nails as she thought upon the room and waited for her roommate to finish checking in. Come to think of it, I never see people come near this room... They always find some way to avoid it... She quickly got up and flung the dorm room door open to confirm her thought. Sure enough, no one to be seen. And it was eerily quiet. Devi scoffed, well it is room number 13, after all.

At that moment she heard a loud bang behind her. It sounded like it came from the closet. Spinning around and instinctively aiming a gun in front of her, Devi found no being there. Instead, she saw the closet door open just a crack...

Aemi had just walked in, her stuff already packed away. She had been staying her for a while already, and it wasn't until recently that the Order decided to have dorms of two occupants. As she walked in, she saw that Devi was within there, unpacking, but staring at the closet, holding a gun. "Sorry I'm late--" she stopped herself.

She couldn't help but start laughing slightly as she saw this before sitting down on her bed, "There's nothing there, Devi. It's just a draft from the vents in there. I'm pretty sure all the dorms do it." She looked around before laying down, sighing in relief, "It's gonna be cool to have some company for once, even if it's only for a brief moment."

She had remembered it like it was yesterday; only one year before, her and Devi had been on that mission to transfer to the China branch temporarily. She had been searching for Allen for quite some time, but still came to no prevail... at least Devi had found the persons she longed for though.

The Rose Witch jumped at the sudden sounds of her comrade's voice. She watched Aemi sit down on her respective bed and opened her mouth to protest. "But there was --" She cut herself off then and shook her head. The crash was probably something she just imagined.

She put the gun back in the holster then took the holster belt off, throwing it at the end of her bed, then sat down across from Aemi. "I actually don't know when my next mission is. I'm going to try to go for smaller missions to stay close to home, I miss this place."

The mention of "home" reminded Devi of their last mission together at the Asia Branch. Thinking on it, she felt slightly guilty. She got to spend time with Lavi, but nothing became of Allen. She suddenly felt heavy, she had to say something. "I'm sorry we couldn't save Allen..." She mumbled quietly.

Aemi shook her head as she sighed lightly. She suddenly felt heavy-hearted as she remembered how the entire time at the Asian Branch, she spent all of her time, night and day just constantly searching for him. No one would tell her anything, not even Lavi. It was as though the Order threatened them to hold their tongues.

She shrugged slightly as she laid on her bed, looking up at the ceiling as Devi spoke. She looked over at her for a moment before speaking. "I know he's alive. I haven't given up on him yet, so I'm sure he'll find his way back soon..." and even if it sounded ridiculous to others, that's what Aemi firmly believed. She knew Allen was stronger than most people, and knew that he could handle anything thrown at him.

Whether she, herself believed it or not, she knew that she must have had some sort of feelings for him. He was the first person to speak to her in her first nine years of being at the order, out of kindness and to just be friends with her. They had developed a friendship, but she always longed for something else. She knew it more than anything now; it was inevitable that she'd fall for him eventually, if not right now.

Devi nodded at Aemi's reply. She believed it, too. Allen always found his way out of everything, why would this be any different?

"Exactly!" She exclaimed then stood, throwing her arms in the air. "So we need to spruce this place up for when he comes back! We should throw a party!" She paced over to the end of the room, by the desk, giving the closet an unsure look. "I mean, the Order will obviously throw a party..." Devi looked over her shoulder back at Aemi. "But we should, too! In here. A personal one." She climbed on to her friend's bed, then sat in the corner, her knees pulled up to her chest and her back against the wall.

"You, me, Allen, Lavi, Lenalee... And maybe we'd even invite Kanda and Komui, too. It would be great. Allen would love it, don'tcha think..?"

Aemi laughed slightly at Devi's enthusiasm as she looked around, scratching the back of her head. The entire idea of a party made her feel a little bit better, but she knew there'd be no way. She sighed, looking over to the journal that was on her nightstand and pursed her lips for a moment as she sat up on her bed.

"I don't know if that's possible... he specifically ran away from the Order... because what I found out in the Asian Branch is that they held him captive because of..." she wasn't sure if she should keep going or not -- she knew Devi could keep a secret, but she didn't even trust herself knowing this information. "Well... he's different, I'll just say that. He escaped their prison island about two years ago and he hasn't been seen since. From what we know... he's on the execution list."

She looked to the window, sighing. She wasn't sure how to explain it without making Allen sound crazy. It wasn't his fault that he got locked up -- he never chose that fate. "If there was any way to bring him back to the order without being executed... or even imprisoned, I'd do whatever I could. I just lost all faith in myself. No one would listen to me when I pleaded for his freedom."
