It began as a tugging and blurring feeling between home and this outside place, like a strange and vivid dream. Several sights, sounds and smells spread out from a central point like a blotch of ink bleeding out on paper. First finding those moments of sleep and daydreams, they flickered in and out of sight and mind every once in a while, like a dream layered upon the waking state. Then, these familiar yet foreign sensations would begin to frequent the mind and body until they took over entirely, and there was no turning back.

Nothing ever had—or would—compare to the experience of wandering into another world, a surreal adventure or a disturbing eternal nightmare, an escape or a prison.

The fabrics of time and space have grown unstable, resulting in temporary holes that swallow up bits and pieces of a vulnerable area from one world and deposit them into a land called Midgard. Living beings, most susceptible to this phenomenon, have found themselves lost in a foreign place, even when they were en route down the roads of their hometown. No one knows what has prompted the conditions for this spiriting away, just that the issue affects more than one world and always leads to the same dimension. Refugees of wildly varying backgrounds have begun to flood the towns with no apparent chance of returning. All stuck in the same dimension that shares certain similarities—from the people, to the places, to the fruit flavored healing candies—to those of their homes, these unintentional travelers must start over their lives as they know them in this hauntingly familiar yet alien world.
